Maintenance FAQs.

  • We see most customers about every 9 to 12 months. If you enjoy cooking and are a heavy user, twice a year is common.

  • Honing a few times a month, maintains a sharp edge. You will eventually need sharpening, but honing will prolong the time between. We are glad to show you how we hone on your visit.

  • Rolling your knives in a dish or tea towel is a simple solution. See photo example above.

  • Twice a year is a good rule of a green thumb. A sharp mower blade cuts cleaner with quicker recovery. Having a 2nd blade on hand to install when you remove the dull blade will save time and keep your lawn looking tidy.

  • Various methods are utilized to match the tool bevel and honor the maker. We sharpen with; a belt system, a precision wet stone system, a precision scissor grinding system and a CBN wheel system for wood tools. We also use diamond stones and a variety of strops and hones to get the perfect finish.
